PROGRAMA 208: THE STOOGES (& IGGY POP)

Turno hoy para uno de los pioneros del garage y el hard rock, considerados los padres del proto-punk y cuya influencia ha sido decisiva para miles de bandas posteriores. Y es que con tan solo tres álbumes ("The Stooges", "Fun House" y "Raw Power"), Iggy y sus Stooges sentaron la base del directo enérgico y rabioso entre 1967 y 1974. Sorprendentemente, volvieron con una gira mundial en 2003 y dos nuevos álbumes en 2007 y 2013, hasta su disolución final y definitiva en 2016 tras la muerte de todos sus miembros a excepción de la "Iguana" Iggy Pop y el posterior guitarrista James Williamson. PROGRAMA 207: ELVIS COSTELLO, LIVE '78

Y siguiendo los conciertos íntegros que estamos disfrutando en esta sexta temporada (valga de ejemplo Frank Zappa en el 76 o Rory Gallagher en el 71), hoy toca la mejor época de Elvis Costello & The Attractions, con un directo frenético, potente y adrenalítico lleno de himnos en el Royal Theatre de Nueva Jersey (EE.UU) en el año 1978, año en que se publicó "This Year's Model", su segundo álbum, de ahí que el repertorio sea básicamente sus dos primeros y mágicos discos, así como alguna que otra sorpresa más. No se lo piensen dos veces y disfruten del joven Costello acompañado de Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas y Bruce Thomas, esto es, The Attractions, para una hora llena de pop-rock contundente. Aquí podcast:

El pasado jueves 7 de noviembre se cumplían tres años sin el mago de las letras, el poeta asceta, nuestro canadiense favorito llamado Leonard Cohen. Turno hoy para uno de nuestros guitarristas favoritos, que esta misma semana visitaba de nuevo nuestro país. Seguramente lo hayas reconocido a la derecha de grandes genios como Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, John Zorn o Robert Plant, pero su carrera en solitario es suficientemente potente como para escuchar toda la magnitud de su obra, que es mucha y muy variada. Y es que ya sea acompañado de su guitarra o liderando proyectos como Los Cubanos Postizos, The Young Philadelphians o Ceramic Dog, su estilo estridente y a la vez suave, de influencia jazzística y latina es insuperable, de ahí que hoy haya sido nuestro protagonista.
